Hybrid lattice Boltzmann model for atmospheric flows under anelastic approximation

Lattice Boltzmann (LB) method for atmospheric dynamics is developed by considering the characteristics of anelastic approximation. After introducing reference base state values in flows, an LB model, with external force term, has been constructed framework. In proposed mass and momentum conservation equations are solved a regularization procedure, temperature field or scalar transport simulated finite volume method. The derived macroscopic governing from model analyzed discussed Chapman–Enskog asymptotic expansion. assessed three benchmarks including non-hydrostatic inviscid convection, two-dimensional density currents, inertia-gravity waves stably stratified layer. validations demonstrate that extension can simulate flows effectively accurately. Besides, offers unified framework both Boussinesq approximation approximation, which largely free characteristic depth flows.
